Xianglu Petrochemical won the largest anti-dumping case in history
on August 26, Liu Dewei, general manager of Xiamen Xianglu Petrochemical Co., Ltd., told the media that the anti-dumping case against purified terephthalic acid (PTA) in South Korea and Thailand initiated by the company was finally reported by the Ministry of Commerce 20 months later and won the case. With a total amount of $3.6 billion, it has become the largest case in the history of international anti-dumping
PTA is the most important chemical raw material in the polyester industry. Although China's PTA production capacity currently accounts for 41% of the total production capacity in Asia and 34% of the total production capacity in the world with an annual output of 15.5 million tons, the domestic demand is huge. South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico and other countries have targeted China. In recent years, PTA produced in South Korea and Thailand has used improper means to suppress the development of domestic PTA industry. In 2007, Xianglu Petrochemical's business situation deteriorated sharply, and the second phase of the project with an annual output of 1.5 million tons, which was planned to start construction in 2008, was cancelled; In the same year, Zhejiang Hualian Sanxin Petrochemical Co., Ltd., the largest PTA enterprise in China, was forced to restructure. The industry wide loss of domestic PTA industry appeared for the first time in 2007. In desperation, on December 12, 2008, Xianglu petrochemical, together with Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Hualian Sanxin Petrochemical Co., Ltd., jointly filed an anti-dumping lawsuit against PTA made in South Korea and Thailandon August 11 this year, the Ministry of commerce finally issued a final ruling announcement. From August 12, anti-dumping duties will be levied on imports of purified terephthalic acid (TG (166 ° C) from South Korea and Thailand, which is much higher than the measured bisphenol A epoxy resin (Dow der331) under the same conditions, with tax rates ranging from 2% to 20.1%
for the final ruling of the Ministry of Commerce, the picture shows Bayer engineer testing the headlight lens made of light plastic at Shanghai polymer research and development center. Liu Dewei has calculated an account. Based on Xianglu's current output value, it means that Xianglu has recaptured the price gap of at least 200million to 2billion yuan, and its profitability has greatly increased. At present, Xianglu Petrochemical phase II project has accelerated the pace of production, and the previously shelved projects are also ready to start. For downstream industries, in the process of increasing domestic output and decreasing imports, PTA contract settlement is more reasonable. The experimental results show that the increase is fair and reasonable, and the purchase cost of PTA raw materials is reduced by more than 100 yuan per ton
